Matt Trujillo: Tough LB is Class of 2014 "Sleeper to Watch"

Keep an eye out for Desert Vista High’s Matt Trujillo in 2013. The 6-1, 200-pounder is a tough rugged class of 2014 LB prospect that knows how to attack the ball carrier! Showing no hesitation in his movement toward the ball, Trujillo demonstrates great tackling technique: He knows how to get small, knife the gap, lower his pads, shoot for the legs and wrap up in tight quarters. Something that is more God-given than it is to teach.

Trujillo looks like he would be a great fit on some Division 1 roster that is looking for a smart, strong character-type LB who knows how to play the game.

Over the past few years, Desert Vista Head Coach Dan Hinds has consistently fielded one of the top high school football programs in Arizona, Trujillo and company will be looking to bring home another state title in 2013. The Thunder won the Class 5A title in 2011, however, they fell a little short last season, losing in the state playoff quarterfinals round.

Somewhat of a sleeper, Trujillo has not drawn a lot of attention from Division 1 programs. However, good performances at spring and summer camps—along with a strong senior campaign—should bring Trujillo some nods of approval from D-1 college coaches.

I like this kid!
